About Me.
My name is India Phipps Epps. I was born and raised in South Georgia. My husband, Will, and I have a 6th grader at Beacon Hill and a 3rd grader at Talley. I have been an active volunteer within our school system and the community since we moved here in 2015.
My professional background is in Human Resources. My role is very people focused so I know the importance of listening and creating a positive culture and environment.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Spelman College in Atlanta. I am a member of the Junior League of DeKalb, on the Leadership team for the Decatur Parents Network, CSD Black Parents Alliance and a member of the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America where I serve as the Assistant Program Director for PK-6th grade. I enjoy reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

I'm running for City of Decatur School Board because I want to ensure that our district is well-equipped to identify and support children who learn differently, particularly in the area of literacy. Literacy is the foundation for academic success, and I want to see all of our children thrive.

I will stay abreast of education-related legislation not only locally in Decatur, but also state-wide, in order to effectively advocate for our school district. I believe in transparency of policy and communication, and will work closely with the CSD board to communicate decisions and initiatives that impact your children.
